Della Lana e della Seta – Festival of the Way and All the Pilgrim Routes

On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June 2026, Castiglione dei Pepoli will host the latest edition of the event ‘Della Lana e della Seta – Festa della Via e di Tutti i Cammini’ (Wool and Silk Route – Festival of the Route and All the Trails).

The event is dedicated in particular to the Via della Lana e della Seta, the approximately 130-kilometre route linking Bologna and Prato, but there are also plenty of opportunities to introduce the public to other hiking-related initiatives in the Bologna Apennines.

'Della Lana e della Seta' takes place simultaneously in two locations, Castiglione dei Pepoli (Bologna) and Montepiano (Prato), both of which lie on the route of the Via della Lana e della Seta.

The programme includes a packed schedule of events in both towns: there will be a craft market and a market selling traditional mountain products (stewed wild boar, potato tortelli, torta grassa cake, lampredotto sandwiches, as well as vegan and vegetarian options), concerts, and hiking and walking tours focused on exploring the historical and natural highlights of the mountain area straddling Emilia and Tuscany.

It will also be possible to take part in a multi-day trek along the Via della Lana e della Seta, which will of course stop at the festival on Saturday (a transfer to Castiglione dei Pepoli is planned).
On Sunday, the 'City Red Bus' service will be operating, enabling visitors to reach the starting points for the hiking and walking routes or the venues designated for events and concerts.
