Founded in 2008 as a spin-off from its French "parent" event, Argilla – held in Aubagne, near Marseille – Argillà Italia has since become one of the leading ceramic festivals in Europe.
From 4 to 6 September 2026, it returns to Faenza, the world capital of ceramics, whose name Faïence is known as a synonym for majolica.
A long weekend to spend strolling along the streets of the historic centre among the stands of ceramists from all over Europe, visiting the numerous exhibitions organised in the city.
There are also many side events of Argillà Italia at other venues around the city, with private and public spaces opening their doors to the public for the occasion for events and exhibitions, in a sort of off‑programme circuit.
The 200 selected ceramists and the "technical" exhibitors come from all over the world.
The Argillà Italia festival also hosts events and performances, including Mondial Tornianti (the "L'Oro del Vasaio" world throwing championship), spectacular ceramic firing in outdoor ovens, demonstrations, workshops and activities for children.
