On the last Sunday in May, in the village of Grazzano Visconti, a procession that took place in the 14th century is re-enacted.
At that time, Count Giovanni Anguissola hosted Valentina, Lady of Asti, who was travelling to France to meet her future husband, the Duke of Orléans.
The village was rebuilt in the early 20th century in the Neo-Gothic style at the behest of Giuseppe Visconti di Modrone, who had inherited it. The project was the result of a collaboration between Visconti and the architect Alfredo Campanini.
During the re-enactment, each square hosts a captivating and immersive spectacle: jugglers, musicians, jesters, magic, archers, mediaeval games, soldiers’ encampments and a jousting tournament.
In 2026, the event will mark its 50th edition.
