Tradition renewed. A journey through history accompanied by knights, dames, musicians and steeds.
Five districts compete to win the Palio, the most coveted trophy. Then there are the thrilling ‘Gare delle bandiere’ (Flag Races), set against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful squares in Italy. And there's more: evocative pre-race dinners, historical reenactments, food stalls and festivities throughout the month of the competition.
Since 1959, the Niballo Palio di Faenza has been held on the fourth Sunday in June and is much more than just a competition: it is the ongoing revival of a tradition rooted in the medieval and Renaissance history of Faenza, a tradition that still captivates us today with its colours, its music and its thrilling contests.
