From 5 March to 19 July 2026, Palazzo Pallavicini will pay tribute to Ruth Orkin, one of the most influential photojournalists of the 20th century, with an extensive retrospective of 187 photographs, documents and memorabilia that underscore her pivotal role in the history of photography.
The exhibition explores her distinctive visual narrative, influenced by cinema, from the dynamic shots of her 1939 bicycle trip (Road Movie) to the perspective views in the Dall'alto (From Above) series, where everyday life is transformed into a spontaneous stage set poised between movement and stillness.
The exhibition also highlights Orkin’s expressive power through her famous portraits of icons such as Albert Einstein and Marlon Brando, offering a modern critical perspective on an artistic output that remains remarkably relevant today.
