Women in balance 1955-1965

A tribute to Wanda Miletti Ferragamo who led the Salvatore Ferragamo Maison from 1960 until 2018. An exhibition that traces her life as wife and mother, perfectly combined with her role as entrepreneur of the famous company who, at the death of her husband, decided not to close but rather to transform an artisan workshop into an internationally successful fashion house.

Along with Wanda's story, it tells of other women who contributed to a profound transformation of Italy, when women entered the various sectors of society, began to populate workplaces that had always been reserved for men, and recently acquired the right to vote.

The exhibition branches out through the display of  the maison's clothes, objects, artwork and photographs that reflect the female model that revolutionised the country, with great reference to the American way of life that conditioned Italian lifestyle through commercial culture, comforting and offering dreams of a better future.

The project also offers contributions from leading artists and personalities and a digital exhibition , in collaboration with the Istituto Marangoni, a school of excellence for Fashion Design, in which the works and testimonies  of 11 international female artists have been collected and commented, in a reflection on the theme of identity.
