From 2 April to 25 August 2026, Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence hosts Firenze Déco. Atmosfere degli anni Venti, an exhibition that recounts one of the most vibrant periods of the 20th century, when Florence established itself as a refined workshop of applied arts, fashion, design, theatre and decorative arts.
Born in the early post-war period, the Art Deco style became the visual language of an era marked by renewal, modernity and elegance. In this climate, Florence emerged as an important creative centre, thanks to the presence of artists and manufacturers capable of reinterpreting tradition with an open outlook towards the avant-garde and international taste.
Ceramics, furnishings, jewellery, textiles, clothes and advertising posters reconstruct the cultural climate of the 1920s, creating a dialogue between artists and manufacturers. From Gio Ponti's contribution to Richard-Ginori to the ceramics of Galileo Chini, from the origins of the Florentine production of Salvatore Ferragamo and Gucci to the captivating advertising posters.
