Futurism at Palazzo della Meridiana

From 19 March to 12 July 2026 at the Palazzo della Meridiana in Genoa, the exhibition "Futurismo", with works by Balla, Prampolini, Depero and many others. Curated by Simona Bartolena and Armando Fettolini and promoted by the Associazione Amici di Palazzo della Meridiana – APS, it focuses on the two aspects of the second phase of Futurism: its multifaceted nature in the most diverse disciplines and its spread in Liguria. There are three thematic sections:

1. Another Futurism: introduction to the second Futurism. When Marinetti's avant-garde became widespread and its expression was undoubtedly aeropainting, the artists on display were Enrico, Prampolini, Fillia, Gerardo Dottori, Tato, Barbara and a young Bruno Munari.

2. A Futurist Universe: more than fifty posters in the most diverse expressive languages, from cinema to literature, from music to theatre, from cooking to sculpture. On display are the sketches for the applied arts by Giacomo Balla, Intonarumori by Luigi Russolo, the visionary works of Fortunato Depero and a long series of posters, books and editorial products. But also the ceramics of Albissola, with the key figure of Tullio Mazzotti, and the tapestries of MITA, with the sketches of Fortunato Depero and Francesco di Cocco.

3. Liguria: Futurist land: in 1915, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti celebrated Genoa, calling it "the Futurist city par excellence". From La Spezia, home to avant-garde experiences and the famous prize, to Albisola, the centre of the well-known ceramic manufacturing led by Tullio Mazzotti, from Savona, where Farfa worked, to the Gruppo Artisti Genovesi Sintesi of Alf Gaudenzi, Libero Verzetti and colleagues.
