2024 ITTF WORLD MASTERS TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Overview

The Italian Table Tennis Federation (www.fitet.org ) will organize The World Masters Championships (WMC), which will involve athletes from 40 to over 90 years of age (including more than 30 percent women) from as many as 104 nations, to be held July 6-14, 2024 at the new Trade Exhibition Hub of Rome.

One of the most impressive sporting events from an organizational standpoint.

The one in Rome, in fact, will be the most attended table tennis event in the history of the sport.

These are the numbers of the event:

·       5 pavilions for competitions,

·       47,000 square meters of space for activities,

·       6,100 participating athletes,

·       2,500 accompanying participants,

·       200 referees,

·       200 volunteers and staff;

·       350 playing areas

·       more than 20,000 matches to be played;

·       90,000 tourist attendances expected in Rome during the 8-day event.

The event will also, for the first time in the history of table tennis, be open to the simultaneous participation of athletes with disabilities who will be able to compete both to contend for the Paralympic titles for the taking but also in the open to all tournament, characterizing the event for its inclusiveness.

Not only sports, however, inside the competition facility, during the breaks of the Tournament, all participants will be able to take a stroll inside the commercial area  that will be set up in a place of particular visibility and will host not only companies of the sector for the display and sale of products specific to table tennis but also companies sponsors/partners of the WMC Rome 2024 and national and/or international companies which, given the large turnout expected, will be present at the event to introduce and/or sell their products.

To make the experience of all participants more enjoyable, a real "Fan Village" will be set up outdoors, which will aim to offer all participants and visitors a range of entertainment services, including:

Free practice area, set up with outdoor tables, in which all visitors will be able to not only play freely but also, participate in one of the promotional tournaments (TTX TOURNAMENT ) that will be organized, or in the basic mini-introductory courses on playing technique.

Drink & Food Area, set up with gazebos that will offer different types of food and wine experiences to participants and visitors.

Music & Entertainment Area, where a stage will be set up for live music or other artistic performances.

The Fan Village will become a meeting place for athletes, fans, practitioners, and companies to come into direct contact with their target audience.
