On 24th November, the city of Florence will host the 40th Florence Marathon.
The traditional 42.195 metres are covered on a fascinating journey through art, history and culture. An unmissable event for sports fans and runners from all over the world every year, the Florence Marathon is an ideal opportunity to spend a pleasant Sunday at the end of November visiting Florence.
This marathon is one of the biggest road running events in Italy, both in terms of quality and number of participants. The route takes in places of extraordinary beauty such as Piazza del Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio, ending on the splendid Piazza Santa Croce. The course is flat, as required by IAAF standards, and the roads are paved and smooth. The Florence Marathon is included in the official calendar of international marathons, certified by AIMS and recognised by the IAAF.
This is not only a sporting event, but also a celebration of custom and culture. Today, it is an excellent event in terms of its organisation, set against the exceptional backdrop of Florence – a unique city thanks to its beauty and unforgettable atmosphere.
