Pisa Marathon

Overview

On 17 December 2023, Pisa will once again host the historic Marathon with many additions this year. The flat and quick route takes in art, history and nature, and starts and finishes in the thousand-year-old Piazza Duomo. After the first few kilometres in the city, you cross San Rossore Natural Park and arrive at the sea.  On the way back, you walk along the historic river Arno, until you reach the Leaning Tower.

The competitive and non-competitive race will be held on Sunday, 17 December 2023 on a 42.195 km course measured by AIMS-World Athletics and Fidal, starting at 9.00 am. Meanwhile, the 'Pisanina' half-marathon boasts a 21.097 km course.

The Pisa Marathon holds the Bronze Label according to the WORLD ATHLETICS International Classification, attracting runners from all over the world every year. In 2022, 38% of the participants came from 68 different countries.

Aside from sports, it’s a unique opportunity to discover Piazza del Duomo with the city's most striking monuments and museums thanks to the special deals between Opera del Duomo and Cetilar Pisa Marathon.
