Parco Giardino Sigurtà

Overview

The largest tulip blossom in Europe

Located in Valeggio sul Mincio, in the province of Verona, 8 kilometers from Peschiera del Garda, the Sigurtà Garden Park is a nature park of 60 hectares. Its history dates back to 1407, when Gerolamo Nicolò Contarini bought the entire property that at the time had a purely agricultural function. In fact, it was a “brolo cinto de mura” or cultivated land enclosed within a high wall. However, inside there was also a small garden, dedicated to the leisure of the nobles, which over the centuries has expanded more and more, supplanting the crops.

The garden has a romantic layout and includes several recently renovated buildings such as the Hermitage, the Castle and the Votive Cave. Next to centuries-old oaks and bushes of bosses with surreal shapes, you can admire splendid blooms of tulips in the months of March and April, there are about a million. From May to September you can not miss the avenue of roses with 30,000 blooming roses, while between June and July the aquatic plants of the eighteen bodies of water bloom. In the park there are also theabirinto, the garden of medicinal plants and the horizontal sundial with a geometric path.

For the little ones we point out the Farm where you can see donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys and ducks. Some deer live undisturbed in a dedicated valley.
