La Via Crucis Vivente di Frassinoro

Overview

On 7 April, the Via Crucis Vivente returns to Frassinoro in the province of Modena, an atmospheric event not to be missed!

This is the most important religious-popular event in Emilia Romagna, held every three years on Good Friday, when the town becomes the stage for the mystical re-enactment of the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. Like a film set, it takes months of preparation to ensure an incredibly realistic description of the "scenes".

At 9 p.m., after the solemn mass in the Abbey, the "paintings" interpreted by the citizens come to life, for a "static" procession through the streets, as visitors and pilgrims themselves parade along the torch-lit route, a custom handed down the generations for centuries. It is a magical event to experience at least once in a lifetime.
