Marinating fish in Comacchio is a centuries-old tradition rooted in the local culture of the Valli area.
After being fried or cooked in the large fireplaces of the Manifattura dei Marinati, the fish is preserved using a curing method that is still prepared today according to the traditional recipe, using vinegar, water and salt. This process gives the fish a unique and extraordinary flavour, making it a traditional product and a symbol of the Comacchio area.
La Festa dei Pesci Marinati, taking place over the weekend of 25 April, aims to celebrate Comacchio’s centuries-old tradition of marinating fish, with activities and initiatives promoting this excellent product from the Valli di Comacchio.
During the event, the following activities will be organised: markets, tastings, guided tours, music, children’s workshops and many other initiatives.
