Montecucco

Overview

The food and wine excellences of Maremma

Discover the food and wine excellence of Tuscany along the Montecucco Wine Route and the Flavors of Amiata that winds between Amiata and Maremma, immersed in the enchanting Tuscan landscape.

Prepare to live this earth with all your senses. The view is lost among the cultivated hills while the sun warms your skin, the scents of nature inebriate you and the palate tastes the delights produced here: the extra virgin olive oil of Seggiano, the chestnuts of Monte Amiata, the Tuscan pecorino PDO, the Saffron of Maremma, the wild boar salami, the Salted Biscuit of Roccalbegna and of course the king of these hills, the Montecucco DOC wine. It is a red not to be missed, produced with Sangiovese grapes grown right here.

This area has been inhabited since ancient times, as evidenced by the drawings on the walls of the Grotta dell 'Arciere, and the production of wine dates back to the Etruscans. But it was the Benedictines of the Abbey of San Salvatore who first exploited this corner of Maremma to cultivate excellent vines from which still today the precious Montecucco DOC is obtained.
