Overview
From 15 November to 6 January, Arezzo is transformed into the City of Christmas: many attractions and a rich calendar of events in the historic centre of the Tuscan city.
Lights, Ferris wheel, Santa's house, traditional markets, Tyrolean village and many other surprises throughout the holidays. The rich billboard of events will give unique and not-to-be-missed atmospheres merging with the artistic and cultural heritage of the city.
In Piazza Grande, where every first Sunday of the month and the previous Saturday, Arezzo welcomes the biggest and oldest Antique Fair in Italy, the Tyrolean Village returns with exhibitors from Tyrol, Germany and Austria. Wood carvers, sculptors but also ceramists and creators of hand-painted blown Christmas balls. And then plates, objects, fabrics, artifacts, figurines related to the Nativity, cribs and a thousand gift ideas. Here, small wooden huts serve the best beers and traditional Tyrolean dishes.
The Prato, the large green area that dominates the city, welcomes many wooden houses that offer local street food and crafts. You can climb aboard the Ferris wheel, enjoy a wonderful view of the whole city decked out in festive decorations, and skate on the ice rink.
Original lighting adorns Piazza Grande and the main monuments of Arezzo. Maps created specifically for the event and traditional lights connect every street in the historic centre, bringing Christmas light throughout the city.
