Bagnone

Overview

Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club

In the Tosco Emiliano Apennine National Park, Bagnone is a Municipality of Lunigiana furrowed by the homonymous stream and immersed in the woods. It consists of two distinct settlements, a medieval village dominated by the Castle, enriched by the church of San Nicolò and a market street village, where you can see the MAM – Museum Archive of Memory, the church of San Nicolò Prepositurale and the F. Quartieri theatre, which today hosts theatrical season, shows and concerts. It is also pleasant to walk in the historic centre, under its arcades and cross the old bridge of medieval origin.

Also worth seeing is the hamlet of Castiglione del Terziere, a few km away, with the castle today owned by Loris Jacopo Bononi who restored it and created the "Niccolo V"Centre for Humanistic Studies, where a precious archive and a library of considerable value are preserved. The paths and roads are ideal for cycling or mountain biking, with numerous routes indicated.

At the table try the Treschietto onion, the panigacci and the testaroli. Events include the Sagra della Cipolla di Treschietto (between April and May), Bagnone diVino (in July) and the Festival of classical music "Musica nel borghi", in the second half of July.
