Overview
Festivals, concerts and opera
Built to replace the old Teatro Comunale, near the Parco delle Cascine, the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino was designed by architect Paolo Desideri and is home to the famous Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival, one of the oldest events in Italy and well popular in Europe.
Equipped with a hall dedicated to opera, with a capacity of 1800 seats, a 1,000-seat auditorium dedicated to symphonic music concerts, and an open-air Cavea, the theater is a genuine multifunctional space.
Some of its most famous events include the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, dedicated to young talent, school events and partnership initiatives. The theater also organizes guided tours through its Maggio Tour experience.
