Organic Farm of Zeno Alfeo

Overview

A SMALL AGRICULTURAL PARADISE OF BIODIVERSITY

In an excellent location, overlooking the Adige Valley, immersed in the woods of the Monte Corno Nature Park, 500 m above sea level and bordering the Dürer path, 4 km from Salorno, a hamlet of Pochi (BZ), lies the small farm of Zeno Alfeo, established in 2014.

It covers some 5000 metres of land, including vegetable gardens, meadows and housing, with a very rich biodiversity. There are more than 80 shrubs and trees, from chestnuts to mulberries, ancient “hosts”.

In Pochi there is the cultivation and processing of products, in Salorno the sales point at “Il mazzolino” shop, in Mezzocorona the Campagna Amica farmers' market, and soon in Cavalese as well.

AN EXTENSIVE PRODUCTION OF ORGANIC HERBS, PLANTS, FLOWERS AND FRUITS

In the neighbouring renovated farmhouse, the owners live, with 1 workshop consisting of a drying room and one for storing herbs.

Raw materials are cultivated, and partly processed: medicinal plants, herbs, vegetables, small fruits, flowers and berries. All organic.

In spring, the first to spring up are the wild herbs for food use: dandelion, nettle, silene vulgaris, chicory intybus, bear garlic, pimpinella, cycerbita alpina, wild rocket portulacca, chenopodium album, and many others, then various vegetables, including special species, such as yellow courgettes, black pepper, mini Inca cucumbers, black tomato, and so on.

Aromatic herbs are grown both to be cooked fresh and to be mixed dry in various preparations, of infusions and the like: hyssop, mint, savoury, thyme, rosemary, tarragon, oregano, marjoram, red basil.

There is no shortage of small fruit crops: raspberries, blackcurrants, blackberries and goji berries.

MANY PRODUCTS AND UNMISSABLE INFUSIONS WITH THE ALTO ADIGE QUALITY SEAL

The processed products are: 13 types of mixed infusions, 5 types of flower and herbal syrups (mallow, monarda, mint, lemon balm, nettle), 2 types of jams, dried persimmons, 15 types of herbal and flower aromatic salts, scented pillows, lavender hearts, 5 types of handmade soaps, 3 lines of cosmetics and crystal bath salts, stevia, marigold, cornflower and mallow.

A captivating blackcurrant production is offered: syrups, jams, soaps, cosmetics, and a food supplement: blackcurrant bud extract. The infusions carry the South Tyrolean Quality Mark, which is only recognised after strict annual quality controls to exclude the presence of any chemical residues.
