Until 28 June 2026, the APE Parma Museum is hosting an exhibition dedicated to one of the lesser-known – but no less important – creative facets of the multifaceted artist who created the characters of Don Camillo and Peppone.
The exhibition explores the creative work of Giovannino Guareschi (1908–1968) in relation to visual art, from his youth to the resounding success of the first film in the Don Camillo series in 1952.
His work as a photographer is, in fact, confined to the years 1934–1956, interrupted by the almost two years (1943–1945) of his internment and the years of his imprisonment (1953–1954).
The exhibition follows an itinerary divided into thematic sections, where the originality of the iconographic imagery, whether photographs or drawings, is echoed by the artist’s words through a carefully selected selection of his quotes.
