La Traviata

Overview

A Farmer finds a wife

A choice driven by love, that of the beautiful courtesan Violetta, which will lead her to the decision to leave Paris and move to the countryside, following the passion that ties her to Alfredo. Fun fact: The best-known waltz written by Giuseppe Verdi for "La Traviata" is "Libiamo ne' lieti calici": for many, "libare" is considered a synonym of toasting; instead, it refers to tasting, referring to rare and exciting experiences: libare amore, libare la gioia (as, indeed, in the case “libare Violetta”)
