Overview
In the north-east of the Venetian lagoon lies the enchanting Isola Santa Cristina, an oasis nestled between the Adriatic Sea to the east, the peaks of the Dolomites to the north and the spectacular Venice to the south.
The first settlement on Isola Santa Cristina dates to the 5th century. At the time, the island belonged to the Ammiana archipelago of “garden islands”, rich in churches, monasteries and convents, which have now disappeared, having been abandoned since the 15th century.
With its own freshwater spring, among the islands of the northern lagoon, Santa Cristina represents an environmental anomaly: it is a kind of miniature fish farm in the middle of the lagoon itself. Its excellent environmental preservation makes the area of great natural and scientific interest.
In addition to organic fishing, numerous food products are cultivated on the island. But the main attraction remains the landscape - the perfect retreat for visitors seeking a unique atmosphere for spending time with loved ones.
