Cultural and spiritual events in the town of Feltre
Eight hundred years after the death of Francis of Assisi, the municipal administration has chosen to dedicate a series of events to this extraordinary figure, who was both a saint and a poet.
Thanks to collaboration with the Parish of the Co-Cathedral of Feltre, a comprehensive programme of cultural and spiritual events has been drawn up, which will run from March to October. The various initiatives will provide an opportunity to explore and celebrate ‘the poor man of Assisi’ from a wide range of perspectives, highlighting the relevance and richness of his message today.
The unmissable Reading Marathon event will be dedicated to the Saint and will take place in the morning in schools, followed by an urban walk through the parts of the town where Franciscanism has left tangible traces.
The conferences organised by the parish, which will precede the event, and the exhibition held at the ‘Carlo Rizzarda’ Gallery of Modern Art will also help to highlight the presence and impact of the Franciscan tradition in the area.
Two leading figures from the cultural scene will help to outline the profile of Saint Francis of Assisi: Vittorino Andreoli, author of the book ‘Il folle di Dio. Storia di Francesco d’Assisi’ (‘The Fool for God. A History of Francis of Assisi’), and Aldo Cazzullo, the subject of a monologue he wrote himself. Storia di Francesco d’Assisi’ and Aldo Cazzullo, the protagonist of a monologue he wrote himself. Literature, history, art and spirituality come together in Feltre as a tribute to Italy’s patron saint, whose feast day has been reinstated on 4 October.
