Overview
The "Salento Book Festival" continues in some of the most important towns in the region. Now in its 15th edition, the cultural event is once again ready to embrace Salento, particularly involving some of the area's most prominent centers
Organized by the Cultural Association "National Book Festival," the event aims to place the spotlight on nationally and internationally renowned authors and writers, engaging a diverse audience.
The main goal of the Salento Book Festival is to create opportunities to meet and discuss issues (regarding the environment, politics, television and entertainment, the fight against the mafia, culture, health, etc.) in places that are central to the life of a community. From historical venues to main squares, the Festival is rooted in total openness towards the host community, looking to involve existing associations with the aim of encouraging the participation of a diverse and interested public to the greatest extent possible. From young people to adults, from teenagers to the elderly: the Salento Book Festival organises cultural events that capture the interest and attention of all demographics.
The programme includes not only traditional meetings, but genuine events, all unique in their own right. Readings, meetings and discussions with authors all contribute to the fundamental goal of promoting the area. It is essentially a regional marketing operation, aimed at kickstarting the much-needed process of de-seasonalising tourism, as well as promoting the rediscovery of a hinterland steeped in history and tradition.
