Overview
At the southern end of Canavese, where, at the gates of Turin, the morainic hills gradually begin to shrink, lies the small town of Caluso, known throughout the world for its native Erbaluce vine, from which three of the most appreciated and recognisable white berry wines of the peninsula are made: the Erbaluce of Caluso, Caluso Spumante Metodo Classico and Caluso Passito.
It seems that at the origin of this excellence in food and wine lies the particular geological composition of the local soil, where pebbles of glacial origin prevail, and the mild and protected climate, thanks also to the humid atmosphere created around Lake Candia, a small basin of water a stone's throw from Caluso.
All that remains is to book a tasting session, choosing from local wine shops, restaurants and cellars, to taste a glass of Erbaluce, ideal to accompany freshwater fish and white meat dishes.
