There are over 15 initiatives designed by CAI Milano to celebrate its century and a half of life and they are aimed at athletes, novices, enthusiasts, families and mountain lovers of all ages. All this will culminate in the party on Saturday, 18 November, in which the most loyal members and students, who have distinguished themselves in the mountaineering and hiking activity of the section, will be rewarded.
The programme follows the commitment of the CAI Milan Schools in the courses of mountaineering, ski mountaineering, hiking, cross-country skiing and in the activity of cycling-hiking. And it will range from Milan, where the CAI inaugurated in 2021 an urban path in the heart of the city (101 "Milano in Cima"), to the mountains of our home, up to the K2 Base Camp in Pakistan.
150 years of CAI Milan: the events in Lecco
There are 3 CAI Milan mountain lodges in the province of Lecco. Some lodges are also an example of a vanguard in sustainability, such as Carlo Porta, which plans to use biomass from the management of adjacent forests to heat hikers, with a reduction in CO2 emissions.
Among the activities highlighted are:
An important initiative on the Grigne group to mark and equip a route intended to connect the three lodges of the Milan section: Rifugio Porta, Rifugio Rosalba and Rifugio Brioschi;
Cardiopulmonary assessment day for hikers passing through some of the CAI Milan mountain lodges. Organisation by the Medical Commission of the section;
"Gira Rifugi" Award. The section will launch a points prize for all members who prove they have visited its lodges.
