Overview

For the second concert scheduled for Thursday April 20th, Mariotti has chosen one of the great masterpieces of German musical literature ManfredLord Byron’s dramatic poem that Robert Schumann drew from, which has been missing from the Costanzi for 56 years. The protagonist of the piece, the Byronian anti-hero tormented by incurable internal conflicts, is played  for the first time by the great actor Glauco Mauri, aged 93. Halfway between an oratorio and an opera inspired by the Singspiel and the melologue. The Chorus of the Rome Opera also makes an appearance on stage.
