From 22 to 29 July 2026, Roccella Ionica will host the 17th edition of the 'Remo Bodei' Summer School of Philosophy, a unique event on the Calabrian and national cultural scene that brings together critical thinking, civic engagement and dialogue between different fields of knowledge.
Promoted by the Scholé Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Roccella Ionica, the Universities of Pisa and Macerata, and Radio Roccella, the School will take place in some of the town’s most iconic locations – from the former Convento dei Minimi to the square in the Borgo district and the garden of the ‘Elisa Scali’ Study Centre – alternating between lectures, dialogues and opportunities for open discussion.
The theme of this edition is matter, understood not as a static reality but as a process: something that takes shape, transforms and continues to create. This exploration continues the journey begun last year on the topic of care, bringing the two concepts together to examine the present, which is marked by conflict, social inequalities and environmental crises.
Over the course of the week, scholars from various Italian and international universities will take turns leading multi-voice sessions, shared readings and discussions, engaging students, enthusiasts and the local community.
