La Finestra sui Sassi - Kappador

Overview

Lucanian cuisine with a view of Matera

Set in a 19th-century building overlooking Piazza Vittorio Veneto, with an unobstructed view of Matera, La Finestra sui Sassi - Kappador is a family-run restaurant and pizzeria with over 20 years of tradition. Its name well represents the novelty chosen and presented by the owners, who have placed a barbecue with a large golden hood above it in the centre of the restaurant, where the customers can freely and independently cook the meat and fish dishes on the menu.

The facility covers an area of over 200 square metres divided into three rooms. In one, a large window offers a 360-degree view of one of the most beautiful views of the Sassi. In fine weather, it is possible to sit on the large terrace overlooking the rooftops of the city. Eating while sitting in front of this immense panorama is a unique and unforgettable experience.

Compared to the previous location in via Potenza, the new location, opened in 2012, has not only renewed furniture elements, but also a renovated kitchen. Owners Antonio and Maria have undertaken a great deal of research, the aim of which is to introduce traditional Lucanian dishes, specifically those from Matera, revisited with freshness and originality.
