Overview

Halfway between lake and mountain

Located north of the Alto Garda plain, Arco is a small town on the Sarca River, 35 kilometers from Trento. The proximity to the lake and the shelter offered by the mountains guarantee a mild climate throughout the year, making it a very popular tourist destination. The most important monument is the Castle of Arco, which dominates the entire valley. Its enhancement through architectural recovery has returned the city one of the most beautiful and evocative manors of the Alps. Also unmissable is the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, built on the remains of an ancient and previous church of Romanesque origin. In winter the old town is home to one of the most famous Christmas markets in Trentino.

Arco also has excellent natural and artificial rock gyms. For 20 years it has been the world capital of free-climbing: every year in summer the Rock Master is held, a sporting climbing competition that attracts athletes from all over the world. The resort is also highly appreciated by mountain bike lovers, who can indulge here among the surrounding hills and mountains.

To the north is the Grotto of Patone, a horizontal cave easily visited, also known as the Devil's bus, or devil's hole, 800 meters long.
