Festino di Santa Rosalia

Overview

The Festino di Santa Rosalia is the most heartfelt celebration in the city of Palermo, a veritable explosion of faith, folklore and spectacle that involves the entire community. Now in its 401st edition, the Festino will take place on the evening of July 14, 2025 along the traditional route from Palazzo dei Normanni to Porta Felice, passing through the heart of the historic center.

In the middle of the procession, the “Santuzza” is transported on an impressive scenic Chariot, accompanied by artistic performances, music, fireworks and a four-stage narrative that blends tradition and innovation. The event culminates with the famous collective cry “Viva Palermo and Santa Rosalia” at the Quattro Canti, a symbol of liberation and devotion.

But the Festino is more than just the procession: as early as May, a packed program of cultural events, concerts, exhibitions and moments of spiritual reflection comes to life, making Palermo a widespread stage.

Internationally recognized, in 2024 it was awarded among the three best events in the world by the Bea World Festival. Thousands of visitors are expected again this year, testifying to the deep connection between the city and its patron saint, who according to tradition saved Palermo from the plague in 1624.

An unmissable event to experience the most authentic Sicily among excitement, spectacle and popular devotion.
