Overview
At the foot of the mountains, on the border between Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, Carema is a winegrowing town whose tourism identity developed around the 'nectar' that made it famous, thanks to the splendid scenery created by the terraced vineyards and the Piedmontese delicacies such as cured meats and cheeses - perfect when paired with a glass of Carema Doc.
The Nebbiolo grape, which yields a soft and delicate red wine, grows on steep hills rising to an altitude of 700 m. The vines are trained on dry-stone walls, stone columns known as 'pilun', and wind around the picturesque traditional pergolas.
Between one mule track and the next, up and down through the vineyards of Carema, you can enjoy views of rare beauty in a landscape shaped by centuries of work by skilled farmers who work in harmony with the Alpine setting.
