Overview

A journey into the glorious days of the city of Genoa

The seventeenth-century Republic of Genoa told by one of the best-known artists of the Baroque era in a collection of 150 artworks on display at the Ducal Palace. Starting with these paintings, the narrative of the cultural and artistic context of the city in its moments of glory. Completing the narrative are artworks by Tintoretto and Luca Cambiaso, as well as some of Rubens' peers, such as Jan Wildens and Frans Snyders. The exhibits include some well-known titles such as the "Portrait of Violante Maria Spinola Serra " from the Faringdon Collection Trust, and the "Saint Sebastian" masterpiece from a private European collection and never exhibited in Italy. An event that is a true journey within a cultural narrative of a fundamental period of Genoa's history.
