Overview
From 7 March to 6 July 2025, Rome will be hosting one of the most important and ambitious projects dedicated to Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio (1571-1610).
The many tourists and pilgrims who will be flocking to the city for the 2025 Jubilee celebrations will be able to admire the extraordinary exhibition, held at the National Gallery of Ancient Art, dedicated to one of Italy’s best-known and most beloved painters of all time.
The event, organised in collaboration with Galleria Borghese with the support of the Ministry of Culture’s General Directorate of Museums and of the main partner Intesa Sanpaolo, is curated by Francesca Cappelletti, Maria Cristina Terzaghi and Thomas Clement Salomon. The show reveals the prolific artistic production of Caravaggio from a new perspective: the exceptional number of original paintings on show, loaned by museums and private collections, reveal the maestro’s profound artistic and cultural influence on the artistic, religious and social landscape of his time.
A must-see event that makes a visit to the Eternal City a truly unique experience.
