In the heart of the Pollino National Park, the Marathon degli Aragonesi returns – one of Calabria’s mountain biking events that combines sport, nature and exploration of the region.
The start is scheduled in Campotenese, in the Morano Calabro area, the gateway to the Pollino National Park, from which various routes through the landscapes of the mountain massif branch off. Participants will be able to choose between three routes designed for different fitness levels: a 63-kilometre marathon, a 48-kilometre gran fondo, and a 28-kilometre leisure route for those who wish to enjoy the experience as a cycling tour.
The routes pass through some of the park’s most beautiful locations, including centuries-old beech forests, vast plateaus and dirt roads surrounded by nature. The route passes through iconic landscapes such as the Piani di Novacco, Campolongo di Lungro, Cifariello and the Parco della Lavanda, reaching altitudes of almost 1,900 metres.
In addition to the sporting competition, the Marathon degli Aragonesi offers an opportunity to discover one of the most captivating landscapes in the mountains of Calabria, where the silence of the forests, the sweeping vistas and the variety of trails make the cycling experience particularly immersive.
The event attracts mountain biking and cycling enthusiasts from all over Italy, offering them the opportunity to experience the Pollino through sport and direct contact with nature.
