Ever heard of the Lorica zip line, which flies over Lake Arvo? We are in the centre of the Sila National Park, in the province of Cosenza, between the municipalities of San Giovanni in Fiore and Casali del Manco, as far as Aprigliano.
The zip line in Sila is just one of the many sporting activities that can be practised on and around Lake Arvo in every season of the year: from simple walking, horse riding and cycling, to winter sports in the ski resort.

Are you a nature lover and fancy an adrenaline experience in the green? The Sila zip line is for you! Surrounded by the splendour of an uncontaminated landscape, we reach one of the most beautiful lakes in Sila, in a portion of territory that embraces several municipalities: to be exact, the Arvo Lake zip line is located within the “Silavventura” Park, in Lorica.
Lorica's zip line is the only one in Italy to cross the entire surface of a lake on a 600-metre steel cable, to which one hooks up for a descent that gives the sensation of free flight: one starts from a suspended platform and literally flies at 70 km/h, even passing between the fork of a large specimen of Laricio pine, for a total duration of 20 minutes.
Flying over Lake Arvo: useful tips
The Lorica zip line is fun and safe, as it is accessed wearing the appropriate equipment (harness, helmet and under-helmet, pulley, safety lanyard with connectors), under the expert guidance of professionals. Flying is easy and suitable for everyone, no more than one person at a time. Any useful tips for flying safely on Lake Arvo?
- Wear suitable shoes, sneakers or hiking boots
- Wear sporty, comfortable clothing that does not restrict freedom of movement (preferably long trousers)
- Have a body weight of between 45 and 100 kg and be over 14 years old.
The cost of the ticket for the Sila zip line is €25.00 for a single flight and includes the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); a meeting with a Silavventura instructor, who will explain how to use the Lago Arvo zip line and the safety measures; staff assistance and any return transfer.
