Once again this year, the city will be buzzing with excitement for the Padua Marathon. Five distances, 6,000 professional athletes, and over 35,000 participants in the Stracittadine fun runs and the 10Crono time trial. These are the figures for the Padua Marathon, a major event on the international running calendar, but also a great public celebration.
The start is scheduled from the Euganeo Stadium, followed by a route through the municipalities of the urban belt before the finish in Prato della Valle for the grand finale.
As you approach the finish line, Prato della Valle opens up before you in all its magnificence, and the feeling is indescribable. But it is not only the final stretch of the route that makes the Padua Marathon unique: it is the entire area that serves as the backdrop to the event.
The volcanic hilly terrain reclaimed by the monks, the picturesque entrance to Abano, where thermal water has been flowing since prehistoric times. Then comes the return leg through the most touristy part of the city, passing in front of the Basilica of St Anthony.
In the heart of the 'fair Padua, the seat of arts' praised by Shakespeare.
