Overview
The historic theatre of Livorno
The ancient and historic Goldoni Theatre, located in the heart of Livorno, is among the few structures that survived the bombing of World War II, making it one of the city’s historic symbols. Today, it is a hub of art and theatre, dedicated to opera, plays, concerts, dance, jazz musicals, cabaret and popular theatre.
Restored several times, the elegant theatre features an immense glass ceiling, known as the “crystal lantern”, and consists of a Great Hall with stalls, four tiers of boxes, a balcony and a gallery.
The Goldoni Theatre also includes “La Goldonetta”, an additional cosy theatre space that is separate and independent and can seat 200 people, and several other rooms used for various activities.
