Montieri

Overview

Nestled at the base of the Montieri hill (1051 m) and surrounded by thick forests, Montieri is a climatic site and an ancient mining centre for the extraction of copper and silver. The small, well-preserved historic core opens onto a grandiose natural panorama. Today, it represents 'green' excellence at European level, thanks to sustainable energy infrastructures, such as geothermal district heating. Finally, it is an excellent base for hiking, cycling and horseback riding in an area that is still little explored.
