Palazzo Wanny

Overview

The Palazzo Wanny is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports facility capable of hosting high-level and grassroots activities. The sports hall, inaugurated on 20 May 2022 on the occasion of the friendly volleyball match between Italy and Croatia, is a legacy that Wanny Di Filippo decided to leave to the city of Florence and to new generations. The foundation stone was laid in May 2019 and in two-and-a-half years the work was completed.
The sports centre, one of the most modern in Tuscany and, after the Mandela Forum, the largest in Florence, is located in the San Bartolo a Cintoia area.
Palazzo Wanny consists of two main bodies: the sports hall and the subsidiary facility. With a maximum capacity of 5,000 seats, the sports hall is equipped with retractable stands, making the space flexible and functional to accommodate international sporting events and extra-sports activities.
While the subsidiary plant includes a gym, a physiotherapy centre, a wellness room, a meeting room with 300 seats and the office structure.
Palazzo Wanny was founded as the home of volleyball. Since its opening, it has in fact hosted matches of the Florence Bisonte women's volleyball team, which plays in the A1 championship. From the 2022-2023 season, it is the sports facility where Savino Del Bene Scandicci, another Tuscan women's Serie A1 team, also plays.
