Sentiero del Ponale

Overview

The road carved into rock

To enjoy a unique panorama, which looks out over the rock face on one side and Lake Garda on the other, take the Sentiero del Ponale. Carved out of the rock as early as the mid-19th century, since 2004 the route has become a cycle-pedestrian route and offers unique experiences, whether on foot or explored on a mountain bike.

The Sentiero del Ponale starts from the centre of Riva del Garda and connects the town with the valle di Ledro. Due to its historical and environmental characteristics, it is one of the most popular in Europe: it holds secret corners of incredible charm, like the waterfalls set between very steep mountains, whose waters plunge steeply into those of Lake Garda.

The entire route is about 10 kilometres long and involves, more or less 2 kilometres from the starting point, the footpath separating from the cycle path. At every bend, it offers incredible views and, because of the layout of the track and the addition of guardrails, it is becoming easier to negotiate.
