Venosta Valley

Overview

In the heart of South Tyrol and its mountains

Between snow-capped peaks and dense forests lies the Venosta Valley, a stunning Alpine region with a surprisingly mild climate. It stretches from the Resia Pass on the Austrian border, at the source of the Adige river, as far as Merano.

Here the land is full of history: castles and fortresses built on towering rockfaces. Among the best-known are Castel Chur, which houses the world's largest private armoury, and Castel Juval, owned by the famous climber Reinhold Messner.

The Venosta Valley also includes the Stelvio National Park and the Texel Mountains Nature Park. Set amid lakes and majestic glaciers, this is the ideal destination for unforgettable excursions. The enchanting scenery is just waiting to be discovered, on two wheels or on foot. Your options include the Venosta Valley cycle path, but you can also explore the mountain peaks and high valleys, all the while surrounded by scenic trails and breathtaking views.

There are also plenty of skiing areas, Nordic Walking trails and footpaths along the ancient 'rogge', artificial canals dating back hundreds of years.
