Three Peaks of Lavaredo, the tour of the Sexten refuges

A classic tour with breathtaking views.

1 minute

Robust mountain or hiking shoes and adequate level of fitness. That's all you need to embark on a discovery of the most beautiful side of the Sexten Dolomites. The 'Three Peaks of Lavaredo', also called the 'tour of the refuges', is a true classic of mountain excursions - and you don't need any climbing equipment.

The stages of the excursion

Starting from the Fiscalina Valley, you can follow a circular trail that includes three alpine refuges. You start by walking from the Piano Fiscalina refuge to the one at Fondo Valley, before taking the path on the left in the direction of Val Fiscalina Alta, leading to the Comici refuge at 2,224 m. From there, continue to the Pian di Cengia refuge at 1,528 m. If you wish, you can walk up from there to the Croda Fiscalina - this easy excursion takes about 1 hour.

From Pian di Cengia, head west until you reach the Locatelli refuge at 2,438 m. Finally, along the Val Sasso Vecchio you go back to Val Fiscalina, to the Fondo Valle refuge and to the starting point, the Piano Fiscalina refuge.

The three refuges along the route also offer overnight accommodation. If you do make an overnight stop, you can spread the excursion over two days, leaving ample time for the 'conquest' of the Croda Fiscalina. Make sure to book early, to be sure of finding a place.
