Overview
Welcome to the "world's smallest puppet museum"
A magical world where, among equisite backdrops and original scripts, there is the spectacle of a hundred masks of devils, animals, wizards, witches, fairies and ladies, all made by the Crevalcorese puppeteer Leo Preti. There is no shortage of accessories: stage sets, costumes from different eras and an extensive armoury with rifles, sabres, cleavers and clubs.
In the early 1900s, Leo Preti (1903 - 1969) from Crevalcore followed his family tradition and soon became awell-known puppeteer. His skilled hands created the figures that, clad in the rich costumes made by his wife Guglielma, became the most famous puppets of Emilia.
The museum still preserves the scripts for the shows: the jokes were improvised each time on the spot, following a set pattern, in accordance with the traditional canons of the Commedia dell’Arte.
