Lago Blu

Overview

The mirror of the Matterhorn

Among the peaks of the Aosta Valley, near Cervinia, lies an impressive natural mirror. The Lago Blu is unmistakable thanks to its characteristic colour that varies between blue and green owing to the special algae that grow in it. On clear days, the majestic and imposing Matterhorn is reflected in its waters.

There is plenty to do around the lake. As well as hiking amid nature and skiing, you can enjoy numerous activities. During the warmer months, the shores of Lago Blu are an ideal location for a picnic in the fresh air. Moving a little further away, you can reach Lake Goillet, from which you can enjoy a splendid view of peaks such as the Col du Teodulo, the Testa Grisa and the Dent d’Hérens.

Don’t forget to try some typical Valdostan specialities: we highly recommend polenta concia, a true delicacy of the region, consisting of cornmeal prepared with butter and cheese.
