Overview
Over 1,500 types of shoes
Along the Riviera del Brenta in Stra, in the province of Venice, is an impressive exhibition space inside an ancient residence: the Shoe Museum, in the 17th-century Villa Foscarini Rossi.
The Museum opened to the public in 1995, 50 years after the Rossi shoe factory opened for business and 5 years after the family purchased the architectural complex of Villa Foscarini, now the exhibition venue for a collection of over 1,500 models of women’s footwear, all designer and luxury.
Retracing the entrepreneurial path of the Rossi family, enhanced by close collaborations with the most important fashion houses, the Shoe Museum offers a glimpse into the local shoe-making tradition of the Riviera del Brenta and documents the evolution of clothing and fashion from the second half of the 20th century to the present day.
Each season, the exhibition is enriched with the most representative elements of the new collections. A small but valuable collection of Venetian shoes from the 18th to 19th century can also be admired in a wing of the Villa.
