Every year in the second weekend of June, Perugia becomes an exceptional stage: colourful flags and banners in the windows and balconies of the 5 city districts, hundreds of costumed figures who walk along the Corso and through the alleys of the city, athletes who from Friday to Sunday challenge each other to games, the evocative entrance of Braccio Fortebracci and a sumptuous historical procession with participants dressed in period costumes.
Don't miss the opportunity to take a plunge into history and immerse yourself in the era between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. From 8 to 11 June, medieval atmospheres, night-time events, medieval games, street performers and re-enactors of ancient trades evoke the events of 1416, when the valiant leader Braccio Fortebracci returned to his city after a long exile, welcomed by the Regency, which handed him the keys to the city and held lavish celebrations.
Screenings, role-playing games, medieval music, lectures, theatrical guided tours and taverns with waiters in period costume, for the duration of the event, will enliven the historic centre of Perugia in anticipation of the Palio 2023, the Corsa del Drappo, and the proclamation of the winning district.
By making a reservation, it will be possible to take a guided tour of the exhibition on Perugino that falls within the events organised for the 500th anniversary of his death.
