Radda in Chianti

Overview

Lying in a historically border area, where the dominion of Florence and that of Siena competed for every metre of land, the historic village of Radda has maintained its ancient medieval structure over the centuries: the elliptical layout, the defensive walls, the traces of the gates that allowed access to the city, all this is still there and is interwoven with an elegant, seamless modernity. Walking around the heart of the village, through narrow streets leading to the town's most hidden corners, the visitor will be enchanted by Radda's grace, its timeless atmosphere and its glimpses of ancient beauty. But Raddi is also told by the ruby red colour and the full flavour of the famous wine that takes its name from this very area, a product of great quality, to be enjoyed with the typical dishes of the area. It is to this wine that the Foundation for the Protection of the Chianti Classico Territory is dedicated, with its headquarters in the former Convent of Santa Maria al Prato.
