Overview
Nelson Mandela Forum (formerly Palasport and known as Palazzetto), is the most important indoor sports arena in Florence, and it is among the first ten in Italy for capacity. It hosts sport events, concerts, political conferences, various meetings, exhibitions, shows and film festivals. The entrance to the Mandela Forum presents a large mural created by South African ndebele painter Esther Mahalangu, it was unveiled on November 17, 2010. The main financial sponsors of the Nelson Mandela Forum are Fondazione Cassa Di Risparmio di Firenze and Unicoop Firenze. Named after Nelson Mandela in 2004, it is meant to be a symbol of gathering and of an open, global and multicultural community.
