Overview
A place of Franciscan devotion in the picturesque setting of the Casentino forest, founded at the behest of Francis of Assisi in the early third century. The count, feudal lord Orlando Cattani, decided to donate a portion of Mount Penna territory to the friar. The sanctuary is mentioned by Dante in the 11th canto del Paradiso.
